General Terms and Conditions

  1. You must be 18 years or older to subscribe to our services/promotion.
  2. For information on when subscription and delivery of newspaper to your delivery address will commence, please refer to the table below:

    Vendor Subscribers For applications received from 1st - 15th of current month Direct subscription with SPH will commence on the 1st day of the coming month
      For applications received from 16th – 31st of current month Direct subscription with SPH will commence on the 1st day of the following month
  3. The subscription, if on either a monthly/annual-recurring mode, will be automatically renewed until terminated by you with a 30 day prior written notice of termination.
  4. With effect from January 2015, delivery fee is charged by per subscriber account per delivery address.
  5. You certify that the information provided is true and correct at the point of submission, and undertake to update SPH promptly of any changes that may arise from time to time, and SPH is authorized to disclose your credit card / bank account details to the relevant banks where required to facilitate payment for your subscription.
  6. All subscription payments are on pre-paid basis. If payment is by credit card, your credit card account must be in good standing and remain valid for the monthly charge(s) to be debited successfully. Should you replace your card, please inform Customer Service – Circulation. Customer Service Hotline 6388 3838 is available from 8am to 6pm on Monday-Friday, 8am to 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday. The hotline is not available on Public Holidays.
  7. If there is a default in payment, the delivery of newspapers will be suspended and you may be subjected to prevailing administrative charges.
  8. All subscribers should receive their acknowledgement letters within 30 days upon submission of subscription forms.
  9. If you experience any issues pertaining to delivery of newspapers (including but not limited to non-delivery of print edition of newspapers), please alert us promptly by contacting our Customer Service no later than two (2) days after the date of the newspaper(s) in question.
  10. In the event of any discrepancies or inaccuracies in your invoice/statement/records relating to the payment for your subscription, please notify us promptly by contacting our Customer Service no later than 14 days from the date of the invoice/statement/records for us to investigate into the matter.
  11. If you have subscribed under a contract/promotional package, an administrative fee will be imposed if you terminate your subscription before the expiry date of your contract. The fee imposed will be based on the amount stated in the Terms and Conditions which you have previously subscribed to. The fee may differ for each Promotion.
  12. All personal data which is collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by SPH and its related corporations (collectively, "SPH Group") in connection with this subscription will be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by SPH Group in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 and any privacy policy SPH introduces from time to time on http://sph.com.sg/legal/sph_privacy.html and http://sph.com.sg/legal/pdpa.html.
  13. SPH Terms and Conditions, including and not limited to terms and conditions on http://sph.com.sg/legal/member_conditions.html, will apply. SPH reserves the right to vary or amend any Terms and Conditions without prior notice

The Straits Times Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 (8") Sub Drive

    1. No cancellation of subscription is allowed within the contractual period, otherwise an administrative fee of $500 will be imposed

    2. This promotion is valid till 31 December 2014 and/or until stocks last, whichever is earlier, and only applicable for home subscription with a valid residential address in Singapore only, with a thirty-six (36) months subscription package for The Straits Times (ST) and is not valid with other promotions.
    3. All subscribers have to be 18 years old or above at the date of subscription.
    4. Subscription packages are applicable for:
    5. New subscribers: Subscribers who do not have ST subscription plan with SPH.
      Vendor subscribers: Subscribers who are paying their ST subscription fee to a newspaper vendor
      Direct subscriber without contract (existing AIO subscribers or who upgrades to AIO package): Subscribers who pay SPH directly and has no existing contract
      Direct subscriber with contract (existing AIO subscribers or who upgrades to AIO package): Subscribers who pay SPH directly and has a contract expiring on or before 14 January 2015.

    6. Not eligible for subscribers who had terminated their The Straits Times package in the past 30 days.
    7. Limited to one (1) LENOVO® YOGA TABLET 2 (8”) WiFi for every successful subscription plan with SPH.
    8. If the gift is unavailable for any reason, SPH Ltd reserves the right to substitute it with any product of similar value at her discretion.
    9. The LENOVO® YOGA TABLET 2 (8”) WiFi cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or any other items.

    12. The subscription, on a monthly-recurring mode, will be automatically renewed after the contractual period until terminated by you with a 30 day prior written notice of termination.

You certify that the information provided is true and correct at the point of submission, and undertake to update SPH promptly of any changes that may arise from time to time, and SPH is authorized to disclose your credit card / bank account details to the relevant banks where required to facilitate payment for your subscription.
    14. For the purpose of this promotion, American Express Credit Cards and Credit Cards from other banks or financial institutions will not be accepted in this promotion.
    15. The subscription is on an interest free installment plan programme. Details of the programme are as follows:
      1. The eligible cardholder will pay the Purchase Price in Singapore Dollars in monthly installments over 36 months
        1. The amount payable for each Monthly Instalment from the second instalment onwards is derived by: (1) Dividing the Purchase Price by the number of Monthly Instalments the Eligible Cardholder has elected to make; and (2) rounding such amount down to the nearest cents.

        2. The amount payable got the First Instalment is derived by deducting from the Purchase Price, the aggregate amount of the Monthly Instalments from the Second Instalment onwards.

    16. By agreeing to participate in the Programme, you agree and undertake to:

      1. Avail the Eligible Cardholder the option to pay to us the Purchase Price to be debited from his/her Card Account by Monthly Instalments.
      2. Procure that the Eligible Cardholder completes and signs an application to charge the Monthly Instalment to his/her Card, and to authorize the respective Bank to debit the Monthly Instalments from the Eligible Cardholder’s Card Account in the prescribed form provided by us directly or via the EDC terminal (the “Application”). This form may be amended by us at any time and from time to time.
      3. Seek the Banks’ prior approval of the Application by telephone, by swiping the Card through the EDC terminal to obtain an authorization or by such other means as we may from time to time prescribe before permitting the Eligible Cardholder to charge the Monthly Instalments to his/her Card. The subscriber shall comply with such procedures notified by the respective Card issuing Bank and provide the Bank with such information concerning the application as they may require from time to time. The Card issuing Bank may in their sole discretion either reject or approve any Application without assigning any reason therefore
      4. Check and ensure that your Credit Card is still valid and that it has not exceeded the expiry date shown on the Card
      5. Check and ensure that the total cash prices of any Application does not exceed the authorized limit and/or the available credit limit on the Card.
    17. All subscribers should receive their acknowledgement letters within 30 days upon submission of subscription forms.
    18. If you experience any issues pertaining to delivery of newspapers (including but not limited to non-delivery of print edition of newspapers), please alert us promptly by contacting our Customer Service no later than two (2) days after the date of the newspaper(s) in question.
    19. In the event of any discrepancies or inaccuracies in your invoice/statement/records relating to the payment for your subscription, please notify your Credit Card Issuance Bank promptly and contact our Customer Service no later than 14 days from the date of the invoice/statement/records.
    20. Notwithstanding the package details specified in this form, please note that the prevailing subscription rate at the time of submission of this form will apply.
    21. All personal data which is collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by SPH and its related corporations (collectively, "SPH Group") in connection with this subscription will be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by SPH Group in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 and any privacy policy SPH introduces from time to time on http://sph.com.sg/legal/sph_privacy.html and http://sph.com.sg/legal/pdpa.html.
    22. SPH Terms and Conditions, including and not limited to terms and conditions on http://sph.com.sg/legal/member_conditions.html, will apply. SPH reserves the right to vary or amend any Terms and Conditions without prior notice.

The New Paper November Sub Drive

    1. This promotion is valid from 30 November 2014 and/or until stocks last, whichever is earlier, and is not valid with other promotions. Applicable for home subscription with a valid residential address in Singapore only, with a twelve (12) month or twenty-four (24) months subscription package for The New Paper (TNP).
    2. Subscription packages are applicable for:

      New subscribers: Subscribers who have no TNP subscription plan with SPH.
      Vendor subscribers: Subscribers who are paying their TNP subscription fee to a newspaper vendor
      Direct subscribers without contract: TNP subscribers who pay SPH directly without an existing contract and want to upgrade to the TNP All-in-One package

    3. For new subscribers, please allow 7-9 working days for our newspaper vendor to commence the delivery of newspaper to your home upon receipt of your subscription form.
    4. The subscription is on a monthly recurring mode, and will be automatically renewed. The subscriber’s credit card account must be in good standing and remain valid for the monthly charge(s) to be debited successfully. Should you replace your card, please call 6388 3838.
    5. If there is a default in payment, the delivery of newspapers will be suspended and the subscriber may be subjected to prevailing administrative charges.
    6. No cancellation of subscription is allowed within the contractual period, otherwise an administrative fee will be imposed respectively as follows:

    7. After the contractual period, your subscription will automatically continue to be charged to the same credit card used for this promotion at a monthly recurring payment mode at the prevailing subscription rate, unless otherwise indicated to us by the user via circs@sph.com.sg.
    8. All subscribers should receive their acknowledgement letters within 30 days upon submission of subscription forms.
    9. If you experience any issues pertaining to delivery of newspapers (including but not limited to non-delivery of print edition of newspapers), please alert us promptly by contacting our Customer Service no later than two (2) days after the date of the newspaper(s) in question.
    10. In the event of any discrepancies or inaccuracies in your invoice/statement/records relating to the payment for your subscription, please notify us promptly by contacting our Customer Service no later than 14 days from the date of the invoice/statement/records for us to investigate into the matter.
    11. Limited to one (1) package for every successful subscription to TNP. (Premiums: 1 year plan – Jabra Sole Mate Mini (RSP $148) / 2 years plan – Jabra Rox (Wireless Earphones) (RSP $168).  Gift Redemption period: Till 31st March 2015
    12. Gift selection corresponds to the respective contractual period, on a while-stocks-last basis.
    13. If the gift is unavailable for any reason, SPH Ltd reserves the right to substitute it with any product of similar value at her discretion.
    14. Once the subscription gift is selected, strictly no exchange is allowed. If the gift is unavailable for any reason, SPH Ltd reserves the right to substitute it with any product of similar value at her discretion.
    15. The gift is non-exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or any other items.

    17. The subscription, is on either a monthly/annual-recurring mode, will be automatically renewed until terminated by you with a 30 day prior written notice of termination.

    18. SPH shall not be in any way liable, for any claim, injury, expense, loss or damage or incurred by any party whatsoever, for any matter arising from or in connection with the users’ participation in the installment payment plan.

    19. You shall indemnify SPH against all claims, liabilities, expenses, costs, loss or damage of whatever nature (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis incurred by SPH) brought against, suffered or incurred by SPH arising out of or in connection with the subscription contract and the applicable instalment payment plan, including without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing:
    20. Any breach of the terms and conditions of the agreements by the Banks;
    21. Any statement, act, omission, fraud, negligence or default whatsoever on your part (which you agree to be fully and solely liable and responsible for); and
    22. Any enforcement or attempted enforcement by SPH of its rights or remedies against you
    23. You certify that the information provided is true and correct at the point of submission, and undertake to update SPH promptly of any changes that may arise from time to time, and SPH is authorized to disclose your credit card / bank account details to the relevant banks where required to facilitate payment for your subscription.
    24. If there is a default in payment, the delivery of newspapers will be suspended and you may be subjected to prevailing administrative charges.
    25. SPH does not provide warranty for the Premium and shall not in any way be liable for any defect, damage, or personal injury arising from or in connection with the Premium and its use. 
    26. Information which you provide to us may be used and disclosed by SPH and our subsidiaries, affiliates, business partners and contractors (who may be based outside Singapore) for the following purposes:
      1. To respond to your requests and queries;
      2. To provide goods and services to you;
      3. To verify and process your personal particulars and payments;
      4. To communicate with you;
      5. To enforce contractual and legal rights and obligations;
      6. For marketing research, user profile and statistical analysis;
      7. complying with law, the requests of law enforcement and regulatory officials, or orders of court; and
      8. For any other purposes for which we have obtained your consent, including during the registration process under our  Member Terms and Conditions, http://sph.com.sg/legal/member_conditions.html
    27.     31. Please note that with effect from January 2015, delivery fee will be charged by per subscriber account per delivery address. You only need to pay one delivery fee if both publications are subscribed under your name and belong to the same account.
